Start of Triathlons

Picture
2003 I finally made it to NSW state short course championships for the 100m Breast. Not long after that, my swimming coach left and I went through 3-4 others within the matter of months.

After this I decided that swimming had given me as much as it could, and decided to turn only to triathlons.

I started to compete more regularly at Lake Canobolas in Orange.
I tried to get more people from school into triathlons and encourage the kids at school to lead a healthy life.

I competed at school state championships for triathlons in 2003 - 2005 and hit it out with the best in NSW in my age. I matched up pretty well after I got the hang of the big events. The 2003 champs was my first major triathlon, a little bit scary, really.

2004 and 2005 I was able to get a couple of school teams together to compete as well. We weren’t the best but at least we gave it a shot and the kids loved it.

2005 my granddad passed away from an ill-diagnosed split in the aorta. After research I found that this could have been prevented if our hospital had the updated machines to detect conditions of a similar nature. So, in the nature of me trying to help everyone I can, I set a goal to do what my granddad wanted to do with me, Cycle around Australia.
